Melanie Jayne Lynskey (born 16 May 1977)
is an New Zealand actress. She is well-known for funny, soft-spoken and strong
characters. She is primarily in independent films. Her awards include the New
Zealand Film Award. A Hollywood Film Award. Sundance Special Jury Award. Gotham
Award. Golden Nymph Award. Critics Choice Award. Screen Actors Guild Award
nominations. Lynskey made her film debut , playing an aspiring teenage
murderess on Peter Jackson's Heavenly Creatures (1994). After making the move
to the United States, she built an acting career by playing supporting roles in
a myriad of small- and big-budget films, such as Ever After (1998), Detroit
Rock City, But I'm a Cheerleader (both 1999), Coyote Ugly (2000), Abandon,
Sweet Home Alabama (both 2002) Shattered Glass (2003), Flags of Our Fathers
(2006), Away We Go, Up in the Air The Informant!, Leaves of Grass (all 2009),
Win Win (2011) as well as Seeking an Friend for the End of the World, The Perks

Up (2021). Lynskey's starring role in I Must Go I Must Go (2012) received
