Genesis Rodriguez

Genesis Rodriguez was conceived in Miami, Florida. She is the daughter of Jose Luis 'El Puma' Rodriguez, the famous Venezuelan singer and actor as well as Carolina Perez, a Cuban model. She has two half-sisters. Her education was at the Carrolton School of the Sacred Heart in Miami. Rodriguez knew from childhood that she wanted to become an actor. She attended summer classes at the Lee Strasberg Theatre and Film Institute and continued her acting training. Paula Abdul was born in San Fernando Valley, California. At eight, she started learning dance. She was a student at Van Nuys High School, in which she was a senior class head cheerleader and president. After graduation in 1980, she entered college at Cal State-Northridge with a major in radio and TV. After joining the L.A. Lakers cheerleaders, she became head cheerleader/choreographer after only a few months, eventually dropping out of college to dance and choreograph full-time. The Jacksons hired her to choreograph their 1984 film "Torture" which was the first in a long line of movies and videos she choreographed.
